Zhou

Curator
At first, like all kids, I dreamed of becoming
an astronaut as a child. But when the rapid
development of the world after the
millennium generation made me have an
epiphany: I should do something for
people, I should leave something behind.
By chance, I started my career as a
curator.
Bio
Zhou Bin is a Guangzhou and Singapore-based
curator who specialises in ink art and multicultural
communication. He is currently studying Media and
Communication at Coventry University in the United
Kingdom, and previously served as the Curatorial
Assistant and Curator of ART GRANARY in Beijing
(2022-2024), where he was in charge of
photography, music production, gallery setup, East-
West Interactions in Art, and account management.
He excels at combining audiovisuals and
possesses extensive professional knowledge.
He has curated over ten exhibitions, including
Enternal Now Spring Salon of Contemporary Art &
Future Design (2023), which travelled to major art
fairs in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen,
and Hong Kong. He received the Most Popular
Award from the China International Furniture Fair,
and The Peninsula and Rosewood Hotels
recognised him for an outstanding partnership. His
practice is dedicated to breaking down barriers
between traditional and contemporary Chinese
culture, as well as global multiculturalism, by
rationally exploring the current state of society and
assisting more artists in disseminating their
narratives and experiences.
My approach
About
me
The question of "How audiovisuals guide
emotions" inspired my curatorial practice. Through
video research (National Museum of Singapore,
exhibition of scenes from Prime Minister Lee Kuan
Yew's Independent Singapore), field filming
(independent microfilm), and collaboration (post-
curatorial activities). I'd like to incorporate video's
audiovisual effects into curatorial cases and
immerse the viewer in the artist's work.
I capture the audience's attention with a small-
scale appreciation: the musical impact of HIFI
appreciation responds to the emotions of the
artist's creative period, resulting in the work and
eliciting empathy from the audience.
At the same time, I focused on cultural exchange
between China and the West, using available
resources and familiarity with the artists to show a
full-screen video of a Russian director at a
contemporary Chinese sculptor's exhibition. The
full-screen video was very impactful in the dimly lit
scene and thanks to the support of the founder Mr
Zhang.Nowadays, the curatorial industry is still
evolving, for example, some post-human,
decentred theories are increasingly prevalent. For
me, curating is not only about presenting art, but
also about the expression of emotional values, a
world full of controversy, confrontation, sensibility
and tolerance, and by the way well thanks for
reading this.
Cheers,
- Zhou Bin -
My
profession
Curatorial assistant at ARTGRANARY.
As a curatorial assistant at ARTGRANARY, I've dedicated my life to bringing traditional Chinese culture and ink art into the modern social environment. I curate and present a series of contemporary Chinese ink exhibitions in collaboration with professional artists and critics in a rigorous academic setting. At the same time, I value art's diverse development and sustainability, and I fully support the founder's efforts to create high-end art spaces, as well as art investments and collections.

There is no future in just staying in the showroom!!!
combines culinary, visual and musical art to explore how stories are conveyed through
the senses. With surreal art inspired by fables and a lush musical score, this multi-
sensory event tells the story of the intersection of storytelling, food and creativity.

Synopsis
Who do you love is a 5-minute short film that follows the journey of a
young man, played by Zhou Bin, from heartbreak to self-discovery. After
experiencing a major emotional shock, he reflects on the pain caused by
love (Imagination: Z.H.W. acted a girl) and realises that the key to healing
lies in learning to love oneself rather than relying on others. He rebuilds
his self-confidence and self-worth by exercising and exploring the world. At
the end of the film, against a backdrop of warm colours, he gently holds
on to a chair as a symbol of preparation for the future. The film conveys
the importance of self-love and encourages viewers to prioritise self-
improvement and happiness.
Genre
The video is to show the pain and hope, self-reflection and growth in the
process of emotional change . It inspires viewers to care for themselves
and regain confidence in life. The plot is simple and depressing, to
soothing and inspiring, but the touching technique triggers the viewer to
empathise with the emotional and motivational genre.

Heroic Flowering, Heroic City. Let more people
know about my hometown through brochure
design. In Guangzhou, a city of heroes, the kapok
flower represents those heroes who have given
their sweat and lives for this city and the new
China, persevering and courageous. This is not
only a beautiful picture, but it also embodies the
spirit of inheritance.

Journey
Middle school.
Guangzhou No. 7 Middle School was
founded in 1888 as Pooi To Middle
School by Miss Emma Young of the
Southern Baptist Convention, USA.
The school was forced to relocate
to Hong Kong and Macau to

School building at the time of foundation - guangzhou
I’m honoured to have the
opportunity to represent the school
as an Ambassador of Ceremony to
have a cultural exchange with Pui To
Girls' High School in Hong Kong. As
the only boy in the delegation's
cultural performance, I played the
traditional Chinese folk song
"Jasmine Flower" on the saxophone,
a Western instrument. At the same
time, I visited the school's historical
archives and took photos.
